Job Summary: PROTTYASHI, a social development organization, has been working to improve the quality of life for disadvantaged populations since its establishment. In partnership with Helvetas Bangladesh, PROTTYASHI has implemented the first phase of the “Strengthened and Informative Migration Systems (SIMS)” project, aimed at ensuring safe migration, access to justice for aggrieved migrants, and productive remittance management for the families of migrant workers in Chattogram District. PROTTYASHI is now launching Phase II of the SIMS project to expand its best practices in Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar Districts. Applications are invited for the position of Project Officer (Access to Justice) for SIMS Phase II, targeting enthusiastic individuals eager to contribute to this mission.

Reporting:

  • Report to Project Manager
  • Maintain functional relationships with peers, project teams, and other organizational units
  • Communicate effectively with both program and operational teams

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure justice for project beneficiaries (returnee migrants, migrant workers, and their family members) by coordinating with relevant public and private stakeholders
  • Form Grievance Management Committees (GMCs) at the union level, ensuring participation from various stakeholders
  • Sensitize GMCs to handle grievances with support from upazila coordinators and social mobilizers
  • Receive, record, and process grievances, referring them to GMCs, legal aid providers, or courts as appropriate
  • Manage cases in coordination with government peers, including DEMO, BMET, and district courts
  • Facilitate coordination between union-level and district-level GMCs
  • Coordinate with other projects or organizations in the project locations to ensure justice for complainants
  • Provide technical support to beneficiaries dealing with litigations
  • Maintain communication and coordination with agents or sub-agents to ensure proper documentation of agreements and formalities
  • Identify challenges to access to justice for migrant households and present findings to national and district authorities
  • Coordinate with BMET or DEMO to utilize the online case management platform for complainant justice
  • Ensure compensation or support from the government and/or agents in cases of unexpected incidents involving project beneficiaries
  • Liaise with public and private stakeholders at union, upazila, district, and national levels to ensure justice for beneficiaries
  • Contribute to periodic project reports by providing data and information as required by the project manager and monitoring office
  • Promote gender and social equity in all project interventions
  • Adhere to conflict-sensitive program management and demonstrate conflict-sensitive behavior
